Help the Afghan Children: Master Teacher Trainer Workshops

funded by the Mennonite Central Committee

Mary-Jo Land travelled to Kabul in the spring of 2009 to hold two Master Teacher Trainer workshops for
Help the Afghan Children, an Afghan-American NGO. The purpose of the five-day workshops was to teach the participants about the Journey of Peace curriculum and explore effective ways in which to train other teachers in the use of the curriculum. Suraya Sadeed, Executive Director of HTAC was granted funding by the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) for these two workshops which have certified 13 high-school teachers as Master Teacher Trainers. The first workshop had three male and three female teachers from rural Samangan Province while the second workshop participants were from the Kabul area.

The students passed through a security clearance before entering.

I would like to thank Suraya Sadeed for her belief in this project, Mr. Jabarkhail for his dedication, Farid for his tireless translation in three languages and most importantly the teachers.
